Skål is Swedish for bowl. The image of a mug without a handle that appears in my work is a response to a poem by Rumi that has particular meaning for me.

Many years ago, my friend Kathy gave me a handmade mug for my birthday and placed a line from this poem in it. Kathy passed away nearly 30 years ago, but I still have that mug and I think about her whenever I use it.
